Set to open in May 2024 at the Hamilton Jewish Federation, the Margaret’s Legacy Holocaust Learning & Jewish Advocacy Centre will be opening its new Museum: a dynamic, evolving hub for education, dialogue, and engagement featuring the story of Margaret and Arthur Weisz, many of Hamilton’s Holocaust survivors and rotating exhibits of interest.

We started with architectural drawings and renderings and are now knee deep in active construction mode (see photos below).

This space is being built for:

  • educators seeking better tools

  • students searching for meaning beyond textbooks

  • communities navigating difficult conversations

  • and individuals trying to understand how the past connects to the present

Unfortunately, antisemitism has not disappeared. It has adapted. It has both familiar and new faces. It’s constantly evolving.

The Learning Centre has been designed with that in mind.

It will offer:

  • immersive, experiential learning environments

  • educator training sessions grounded in current research

  • programming that bridges history with present-day challenges

  • and opportunities for meaningful, guided dialogue

More than anything, our goal is to create a space where our community and those who come to visit can learn, connect and grow.

For more information about the beginning of this project, see article by Wendy Schneider of the Hamilton Jewish News.
